Count Me In

We’ve been working our way through The Complete Tales of Winnie the Pooh with Graham. If you’re not familiar with it, this book is an exercise in contrast with the rest of his library.

 Thick. Has chapters.

And the word-to-picture ratio is totally upside down. 😉

But he loves it and is totally into Pooh right now. So, imagine how excited he was when I told him that I could sing a Winnie the Pooh song! Except I overstated my memory of The House on Pooh corner, so out came the phone… and Google… and I sang my little boy a lullabye.

When I finished I gave him a hug and said that I’d promise to learn it so I didn’t have to stare at a phone next time. And he said.. Oh my gosh, are you ready?

“You should learn it at our Texas church. And you can sing on stage. And I’ll play my black guitar. :::excited giggle::: We’ll just be on stage, sitting on the step, and it’ll just be us by ourselves. I won’t sing though. You sing. I’ll just play the guitar. … Yep, just like Daddy.”

I was speechless for a second and then said that I think that would be a wonderful thing to dream about. And that if he promised to dream about it, then I would too. Then he grabbed my arm and said, “Oh, and…

… Pray to God about that. Okay, mom?”

Be still my ever-beating heart, you guys.

And count me in, buddy. Count. Me. In.

  1. What a precious moment! Unforgettable…
